No one knows what arbiter elegantiarum has first decreed that “the watch is the only gem given to a man.” While Italy is the reference point for elegance and style, perhaps even more feminine, the sales figures of cheap fake rolex watches confirm that men in our country are very serious about that.
According to data collected and compiled by Pambianco Strategie d’Impresa, the 15 leading Italian branches of foreign watch and jewelery groups in 2015 reached a turnover of 1.534 billion, up 20.3% over 2014. “For data 2016 we have to wait for consolidated budgets, but it’s reasonable to think that there has been a one-digit growth – says David Pambianco. Both the Sihh of Geneva and Baselworld (the most important European event in the industry, which closed on Friday last), was cautiously optimistic. ”
The companies considered by Pambianco are, in terms of turnover: rolex replica watches, Richemont, Pandora, Swarovski, Patek Philippe, Swatch Group, Tiffany, Audemars Piguet, Fossil, Montblanc, Chopard, Lvmh, Citizen, Festina and Timex. Of the top three, the largest growth was the Danish company Pandora, which in 2016 continued to run, exceeding 200 million turnover (see Sole 24 Ore on March 27). Pandora, which some call “Jewelery Zara”, does not produce clocks, while Rolex does only those (besides the Tudor brand, which absorbs about 5% of revenues) and has sales in Italy only double.
Similar reasoning for Richemont, which among the top brands has Cartier and VanCleef & Arpels, very strong in the jewelery. Patek Philippe’s fifth place is to find another maison specialized only in watches, but revenues (107 million) are less than a quarter of those in Rolex (446 million), although they grew more (+15, 5% versus 11%). “With Patek we are in the top range, prices start at around € 10,000, double the Rolex – says David Pambianco. A further demonstration of how sophisticated the Italian market is. Many sales are certainly made to tourists or foreign customers, but the Italians remain among the most watchful consumers and connoisseurs of high timepieces. ”
A picture confirmed by data on Swiss watch exports, which account for about 90% of the high-end global market: Italy is always among the top ten markets. But it is also counterproductive: in 2015 exports of Swiss made best rolex replica watches fell by 3.3% to 21.5 billion francs (down 9.9% in 2016). Our country, as demonstrated by Rolex’s performance, Patek and Audemars (all brands that only sell watches) is, however, a kind of happy island.
Among the Italian watch and jewelery brands, the first three are Stroili Oro (262 million), Morellato (162) and Damiani (155 million). Bearing in mind that Stroili went to a French group last year, Morellato is now in the head (see also Moda24 on 24 March).
From the fourth to the tenth place there are One-A-Erre, Pomellato, Asolo Gold, Crivelli, Chrysos, Roberto Coin and Marco Bicego, for a total 2015 revenue of 1,173 billion, up 3.7% on 2014. Interestingly, Developed by Pambianco on the sector retailers: Italy is renowned for having the best “multi-brand” watches and collectors from around the world visiting the most well-known stores in Milan and Rome. It is no surprise, therefore, that in the first place there are Pisa Brothers, who in 2015 saw revenues up 42.6% to 74 million. Following are Hausmann and Luigi Verga, with 49 and 33 million turnover.
